The Council of Europe was founded on May 5, 1949, aiming to promote human rights, democracy, and the rule of law across Europe. �

युद्धांनी होरपळले जग,
(Wars had burnt the world to ash)
युरोपभर झाला होता संघर्षाचा रग.
(Europe bore the scars and clash)
शांतीच्या शोधात एक विचार,
(In search of peace, one thought stood)
५ मे रोजी एकतेचा साकार आधार.
(May 5th gave unity for good)

'काउन्सिल ऑफ युरोप' झाली सुरुवात,
(Council of Europe began that day)
मानवहक्कांस दिला त्यांनी हात.
(They stood for rights in every way)

(Democracy, justice, and liberty's play)
नव्या युरोपचा झाला पाय.
(A new Europe found its way)

युरोपात एकतेचा नवा वाण.
(A pledge of unity across the land)

भिन्न देश, पण एक विचार,
(Different lands, yet one ideal)
मानवतेसाठी उभारला आधार.

रंग, भाषा, धर्म भले वेगळे,

एकच होते – हक्कांचे संगोपन सगळे.
(Their goal: rights for every heart)

बंधुभावाने जगण्याचे बीज पेरले.
(Sowed seeds of brotherhood with care)

(Thus began a modern route)

पाच मेचा तो दिवस महान,
(May 5th became a noble date)
युरोपासाठी खुला नवा दरवाजा जान.
(It opened a hopeful gate)
आजही 'काउन्सिल' टिकून आहे,
(Even today, the Council stays)
हक्क, न्याय, शांततेच्या मार्गावर वसे.
(On the path of justice and peace it lays)

✨ थोडक्यात अर्थ:
५ मे १९४९ रोजी Council of Europe ची स्थापना झाली. त्याचा उद्देश होता – युरोपभर मानवहक्क, लोकशाही, कायदा आणि शांतता यांचा प्रसार करणे. या संस्थेने दुसऱ्या महायुद्धानंतरच्या तुटलेल्या युरोपला एकत्र आणण्याचे कार्य केले, आणि आजही ही संस्था मूल्यांवर आधारित एकतेचं प्रतीक आहे.
